reh, reh, reh...
So, if we aren't supposed to try OURSELVES to pray and read the bible and do all good things, reh, reh, reh... What ARE we supposed to do?

a little whining, a little lolling and little else that makes sense.

Don't take "Let God help you pray and read the bible," too far. :) You've still got to pick up the book, and you've still got to set aside the time...and you may not like it at first, but it's only human not to like it! This is not God's world, so things will try and get in your way - time, human emotion, attitude, etc. But we are God's people, and you've got to trust that God will help you develop a hunger to want to know him more. You've got to trust that when you pray, he hears you. You've got to trust that each time you read the bible, God is working something in you, even when you don't feel it straight away. ANd lastly, even though you don't always do the right thing, you've got to trust that God will forgive you for the times you don't, and that the Spirit in you is guiding & causing you to step in the right direction.
...crikey, where'd all that come from? I dunno...is that the kinda question you were posing?
